Such a definitely good discussion you all have happening. I like the mix of good and correct information together with a few intellectual thoughts. It truly is wonderful to be able to finally come across excellent articles where I think I could believe in the text as well as respect the individuals that publish it. With all the web waste nowadays I always value finding some real voices online. Thank you for posting and continue the good work, please!!

Well done, and all the best!

Ya know, i never read the lyrically speaking part. That would have changed my list quite a bit. I was just thinking of great songs. Queensryche still takes the cake, through in some Judas Priest in there too though since it’s a lyrical thing.

This was definitely a difficult task, but this is what I chose, like it or not, I don’t care, I’m the instrumental type of music lover…
Led Zeppelin – Kashmir
Aerosmith – Sweet Emotion
Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb
Ben Harper – Ground on Down
Pearl Jam – Jeremy
but why’s it have to be best lyrical songs, we can’t forget Soul Sacrifice or YYZ, I mean come on…Cleaner, you better know who this is or I will be very disappointed in you.

There have been some good songs selected. Now if only you would play them on the show instead of this terrible hip hop-pity garbage!!!! Here’s my list, though it really is an impossible list. I love so much music, but off the cuff:
Queensryche- Is There Anybody Listening (Great song listen to it)
Rainbow (With Dio of course)- The Wizard
Pantera- No Good/ Attack The Radical
Skynyrd- Tuesday’s Gone
Dire Straits- Sultans of Swing

This was no easy task, but after much deliberation the Cleaner has spoken, and these are the 5 lyrically greatest rock songs of all time! My picks, with small samples of their greatness so that none may deny:
#1 – Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The truth will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
***To be a rock and not to roll***
#2 – Pink Floyd – Brain Damage
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me ’till I’m sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There’s someone in my head but it’s not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes
***I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon***
#3 – Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run
In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway 9,
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected and steppin’ out over the line
Baby this town rips the bones from your back
It’s a death trap, it’s a suicide rap
We gotta get out while were young
***`cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run***
#4 – Hotel California – Eagles
Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
’Relax,’ said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
***You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!***
#5 Don’t Fear the Reaper – Blue Oyster Cult
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn’t go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared…saying don’t be afraid
Come on baby…and she had no fear
And she ran to him…then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodbye…she had become like they are
She had taken his hand…she had become like they are
***Come on baby…don’t fear the reaper***
Honorable Mention – My Generation – The Who (Because the Parson took the best one!)
People try to put us d-down (Talkin’ ’bout my generation)
Just because we g-g-get around (Talkin’ ’bout my generation)
Things they do look awful c-c-cold (Talkin’ ’bout my generation)
***Yeah, I hope I die before I get old (Talkin’ ’bout my generation)***
This is my generation
***This is my generation, baby***
All can now marvel.

Cleaner, Why is it that your posts sound like they were lifted from the villains dialogue of a SpeedRacer script?
Snake Oiler: “My car is going to blow you away Speed; the Mach 5 is an inferior car … and Trixie should wise up and ride with a real driver.”
Speed: “Try drinking Decaf Snake”

Jethro Tull / Skating away
Well do you ever get the feeling
That the story´s too damn real and in the present tense?
Or that everybody´s on the stage
And it seems like you´re the only person sitting in the audience?
Clancy Brothers/Moonshiner
(Metallica certainly wasnt creative enough to write whiskey in the jar… Whos Molly anyhow?)
I’m a rambler I’m a gambler
I’m a long ways from home.
And if you don’t like me well leave me alone.
I’ll eat when I’m hungry and I’ll drink when I’m dry,
And if moonshine don’t kill me I’ll live till I die.

Oh, and pardon my dust, Parson, but Leonard Cohen might be somewhat dismayed at your attribution of Jeff Buckley to his seminal masterpiece, but since Cohen is still around (whereas Jeff Buckley isn’t) perhaps you can ask him directly!
Heh!
Oh, I’m going to have fun with you, Brother Burly…!!
